ABOUT ABOUT

Do you struggle with how, what and when to eat during times of high stress? Is the idea of meal prep scary when you have to decide between meal planning and sleep? Do you feel unwelcome in the fitness community due to stigmas and your busy schedule?

This workshop will be dedicated to ensuring and understanding of self-care routines and needs specific to the design community in creative arts.

We will explore simple ways to better understand wellness as a whole, stretches and exercises dedicated to designers and ways to incorporate a healthy approach towards your work. We understand that often, at the cost of our own wellness, we put creativity first. Let's be creative with finding ways to ensure we can give back to our most important instrument: our bodies.

Facilitator Bio

Peter Andrew Danzig is a Health Professional, Professor, and creative performance Artist currently pursuing a M.S.S. degree (MSW equivalent) and working towards being one of the first Psychologists devoted to research and advocacy for mental health and wellness for creative individuals. He believes in the ability of holistic practice and evidence-based methods of approach towards helping clients and patients in the creative arts live enriched lives.

In 2014, Peter founded Theatrical Trainer and works, presently as the sole Personal Trainer and Lifestyle and Wellness Integration Specialist on staff. Certified through the American Council on Exercise, with a specialization in body positivity, Peter works with countless clients to build specific plans and integrating health counseling as well as specialized personal training, at approachable and sliding scale rates, to ensure specialized service is available to everyone. It’s his passion that all populations-regardless of background, social or economic- find wellness and strength.

His ideas on body positivity and body dysmorphia awareness in the creative arts industry are highlighted through a social advocacy project himself and colleagues at Theatrical Trainer created called The Body Aesthetic Project. This project investigates the real-life struggles of creative industry professionals and their journey with mental health, social stigmas and body positivity within their field. The aim of the project is to further promote research on this specific population and to advocate for the lack of integrated healthcare available to them.

“Can there be a clinical approach in social work and psychology that allows for holistic approaches to wellness to meld with creative arts practice in which we not only emphasize the artistic practitioners use as a tool to help others- but in finding ways for them to help themselves? Can we further explore the creative mind through science and method-based practice to investigate why creative types are susceptible to anxiety, depression, isolation, addiction and other mental health conditions? Is it the chicken or the egg- or better yet, the artistic mind or the diagnosis?”

Peter also hopes to further investigate psychology and social work for the creative minds specifically within the LGBTQ communities as part of his academic experience.

You can also still see Peter performing and choreographing when time allows! Follow his social media links for more information on his creative projects and collaborations.
